The Eric Liddell Tartan was commissioned by the Eric Liddell Community, an Edinburgh-based care charity, as part of The Eric Liddell 100, a programme to celebrate the life, sporting, and community service achievements of one of Scotland's iconic figures: Eric Liddell. The tartan commemorates the centenary of the Scot's historic success at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. The design and colours pay tribute to the athlete's life, with yellow representing his gold medal, blue standing for Scotland, navy blue reflecting the colours of both Scottish Rugby and Edinburgh University, red symbolising China, green recalling his family holidays at Carcant and his love of field sports, and finally, grey signifying the loss of his life, at the age of just 43.

The Kinloch Anderson Rowenberry tartan is part of a collection of unique tartans which have been designed specifically to be identified with the Kinloch Anderson company, renowned as Tailors and Kiltmakers since 1868. The design of the tartan is based on the Kinloch Anderson tartan ‘sett’. A tartan pattern is called a sett and the details can be explained by counting the threads of the yarn colours in a woven tartan fabric. If different colours are used for the same sett, it must be given a different name, or another word or words be added to the name. A distinctive feature of all the Kinloch Anderson tartans are the three parallel lines with the central line wider than the outer two. The Kinloch Anderson Rowenberry tartan or ‘Rudha-an’ in Scottish Gaelic means ‘Red One’. Inevitably, this tartan is almost wholly red in a variety of shades and hues, with a golden yellow overcheck. The Rowenberry tree is famed for its hardiness and ability to survive in the mountains as well as its long and interesting history. In Celtic mythology it’s known as the ‘Tree of Life’ and symbolises courage, wisdom and protection.
