About
The Reel is a lively dance of Scottish Highlanders and from as early as the 16th century, reels formed an important part of the bagpipe repertoire.
This Reel of the Blue Loch has been exclusively composed for Kinloch Anderson by Pipe Major Derek Potter, RVM, The Sovereign’s Piper 2008-2012.
The Reel of the Blue Loch
This reel is named after the Kinloch Anderson Blue Loch tartan and recalls the dancing flow of Scotland’s rivers and the coastal waves as they roll across her windswept beaches. The tartan itself evokes the blue skies and the deep blue of Scotland’s lochs on a fine Summer’s day. and also represents the blue and white of the Scottish flag.
